A Special Place for Our Teens (The SPOT) – The primary focus of this program are Teens in Crisis. It is designed to provide a safe haven for youth within our Brevard County community. This program offers a safe place for them to receive tutoring, mentoring and life skills training. We are dedicated to improving the graduation rate and encouraging them to become successful law abiding citizens. This will be accomplished by exposure to various trade schools, entrepreneurship opportunities, college tours, and etcetera. The SPOT
offers positive affirmations and teaches the importance of respect and good sportsmanship. We express our love, and offer spiritual guidance to them and to their parents. We are committed to educating, training, and equipping these teens by providing life skills and relationships that will help deter and prevent suicidal thoughts, criminal/gang activities, drug & alcohol abuse and teen pregnancy.
The PLUG(Party, Learn, Understand and Grow) is a year round after school program and a summer reading camp. Program activities include reading, tutoring, mentoring, life skills training, nutrition and enrichment activities. Our objective is to cultivate an environment that will not only improve academia but become the basis of a conceptual framework for student’s success inside and outside of school. Our program offers mentoring to help students become contributing members of society. Reading and tutoring to help improve literacy, school grades, attendance, and graduation rate. The reading program consists of reading inside MyOn and hardcover books. The PLUG program seeks to decrease Brevard County’s disproportionate amount of youth being retained, show an increase in literacy and address the summer slide problem. Because healthy food consumption is a direct link to our brains well-being and functionality in helping us make better choices and decisions, fitness activities and education on healthy eating is also a part of The PLUG program.
